Hi! I'm Kyphx, the lead (and currently solo) developer at HellStorm Software. We specialize in surreal and liminal experiences, with our most ambitious project being Kult Rising, an upcoming immersive sim set in the Sxlaris Universe.

Our Games

Kult Rising

Kult Rising is an immersive sim RPG that is being built on what we call a "living system" model. It is a complex game with a wide variety of systems, and so both in an effort to keep game testing focused, as well as to not overwhelm new players, we will be releasing several free standalone games that take a single system of Kult Rising and build a full game around it.

That way we can have in depth play testing of that system to make sure everything is balanced and working properly, before the finalized changes can be imported back into Kult Rising. At the moment, Kult Rising exists as a backrooms exploration game, as well as a sandbox level that allows you to test out our upcoming FPS hoard survival game mode.

Sxlaris

Sxlaris is a world building project started by myself and Rinzlxrd back in 2022, that was an effort to cleanup, condense, and combine all of our 10+ years of dungeons and dragons monsters, characters, world building, and lore into one world. 

We had both been big fans of The SCP Foundation for years, and so a lot of what we had created was heavily inspired by it. Eventually in 2024 we decided to officially incorporate both the SCP universe, as well as the Backrooms universe into Sxlaris as well. Thus the Dimension-X canon was born.

These names and associated iconography are not covered by the CC-BY SA license, and any reproduction of said materials without express written approval of Sxlar Wasteland is prohibited.

Often times this source material is altered by my adding of images, sound effects, and voices that are not present in the original source material.
